Cliffs of Moher, Ennis/Ennis Friary, Ennistymon (Cascades)

The big destination for the day was the Cliffs of Moher. On our way there, we stopped in Ennis for breakfast and, afterwards, poked around the town a bit, including ducking into the Ennis Friary and spending some time poking around those semi-ruins.

The Cliffs of Moher were everything they were cracked up to be. After stopping in the visitor center (meh), we took the path to O’Brien’s Tower and then walked the 3.5 miles south from there to the Moher Tower at Hag’s Head. It was windy and drizzled off and on throughout, so we were pretty damp by the time we finished.

We grabbed a late lunch in Lahinch and then made the short drive to Ennistymon—stopping at the An Gorta Mor (The Great Hunger) Memorial, which is a memorial to the potato famine from the mid-1800s) on our way into the town. In Ennistymon, we parked and took a walk to check out the cascading falls there and then popped into a grocery store to pick up some light bites for a semi-dinner back at the glamping pod.

Most interesting/memorable experience of the day:

  • Benton: the Cliffs of Moher

  • Tim: the Cliffs of Moher

A bit of hard data from the day:
  • According to Benton's Apple Watch, he took 22,507 steps over the course of the day, covering 10.0 miles and burning 1,128 active calories.
  • According to Tim's Fitbit, he started the day having slept for 7.9 hours, and he walked 22,320 steps over the course of the day.
