We walked and talked a lot, and those walks and talks led to a range of zany business ideas. None of these should be taken seriously. Most of them were from the younger traveler, occasionally enriched by the elder one. Anyone who finds one of these ideas and runs with it (heck…some of them already exist) can rest assured that they will not be hearing from our lawyers:
Nitro Soda—various beers (Guinness, most notably) use nitrogen as their fizzifying gas. It’s a smoother fizz. So, why not do the same with sodas for people who don’t want as much bite in their carbonation? I guess it would be…nitronation?
Carbonated Iced Coffee—um…yeah. This would be a test of marketing—could it be made to be the next big thing?
Collapsible Electric Stand-Up Scooter—an electric scooter that had been boiled down to its bare minimum components-wise so that it could be folded up very compactly.
Audio Alarm Beach Bag—a lockable bag that has an accelerometer or some other mechanics for detecting if the bag is moved. When “armed,” if the bag is moved, then it will beep and then, if the disarm code isn’t entered within 15 seconds, it would issue an audible alarm (maybe a voice yelling, “This bag is being stolen.”). The idea is to provide some anti-theft mechanism for phones/keys that are left on the beach while swimming. Additional idea was to have the bag attach to a deep sand screw so that it couldn’t be easily just grabbed and run with—it would take some digging/maneuvering to even dislodge it.
Flying Ferry—this one was more half-baked than any of the others (which is saying a lot), but the thinking was, given the size of airplanes these days, the novelty of actually making a ferry (or cruise ferry) fly might have some appeal. Um…huh?
